First Weekend Out!
Footlight Players has just completed its first weekend! This checkpoint means that the orientation process for the entire company is finished! Tomorrow we begin Audition Day and, on Tuesday, begin the workshops and rehearsal process! It sure has been a whirlwind of activity backstage already. For starters, I received my staff polo shirt and IUP staff card! On Saturday, I spent seven hours with the Scenic Team in the shop and in the mainstage theatre space doing, what else, basic set up for rehearsals; this included cleaning out what was already in the space, ensuring all of the platforms that comprise the deck were even, and then nailing down a layer of MDF (medium density fibrewood) to smooth out the texture of the deck. Overall, Saturday was the day to create and fix the floor for rehearsals; the next couple days will be focused on painting that floor and adding the other set elements on top of it. Lastly, Footlight had its parent orientation today! During this time, the families of the Players received a preview of what Footlight will be offering this season, attained the Players' schedules, and met the staff! While it certainly has been a busy process, I could not be more excited to meet all of the Players and work with this amazing company. Stay tuned for more!
