Show Weekend!
Tomorrow is FRIDAY which marks the beginning of SHOW WEEKEND for the four amazing productions that the Footlight Players have been working on for the past four weeks! I am honored and glad to take part in what I know will be a great success.
This past week was filled with challenges in order to finish out tech week. All of our set dressing is now complete; for me, this project included the creation of a magical doorway, a tree, and a tree root out of paper mache. In addition to completing set pieces (such as hanging legs (curtains) to mask the backstage, adding detailed paint to desks, and creating props), I am also working backstage during shows on headset. On headset, all of the cues during the show are called by the Stage Manager, and any issues that arrive during show can be seamlessly and unnoticeably managed offstage.
The Players are bursting at the seams with excitement to perform their work. The entire company received their t-shirts and we took a cast/company photo that only amped the group energy. For Wacky Wednesday, the theme was comfort/pajama day to ease any tension from tech week; this tactic worked, because many Players and staff felt comfier during the work day. Tomorrow is our last Fun Food Friday, where the parents provide lunch for the Players and Company; in short, I'm looking forward to pizza day!
